Volunteering Overseas
NP&T is deeply committed to Tikkun Olam—repair of the world. We encourage—even challenge—each of us to participate in the many projects that help repair this world; for we are ultimately known by our deeds.
Becoming a volunteer in Latin America for instance is an exciting and rewarding experience that will change your life. Prepare before you travel by researching each of the Latin American countries that you are interested in doing volunteer work in. We are very excited to introduce you to Latin America and our volunteer opportunities.
The English Teaching Program in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The Dominican Republic is famous for its beautiful white sand beaches, vibrant culture and warm, friendly people. With the highest mountains of the Caribbean, breathtaking beaches and a vast network of underground caves, you will fall in love with this beautiful country and its festive culture.
As you volunteer in the Dominican Republic, your heart will be touched by the passion and spirit of the local people, many of whom have very little. Give of yourself to help improve their quality of life through community building and children’s programs, including arts & crafts, music, recreation and health education. Devote your time to enriching the lives of children and families in rural communities who have little access to quality education and employment.
Adventure tour activities may include waterfall rappeling in the Dominican Alps, surf lessons and snorkeling on the North Coast, a historical and cultural tour of the Colonial Zone in Santo Domingo, caving in Hato Mayor and horseback riding to the secluded Limon waterfall.

There are opportunities to help in education, social work and health care (i.e. volunteer work in community center, soup kitchen, teaching English, teaching soft computer skills, providing health care in hospitals and medical centres, etc). Each programme allows the volunteer to interact with the community, experience the local culture and improve their Spanish language ability. The project has its own qualified and experienced teachers who offer Spanish classes for $45 per week (14 hours of tuition).
Administration fee cost $40. Resident housing costs $45 per week or $190 per month which inlcudes a comfortable bed, hot showers, and a kitchen to prepare your own meals. Volunteers who prefer a homestay pay $60 per week or $250 per month including all meals.

AFRICA Save Darfur- Building peace costs less—in lives and in dollars—than picking up the pieces after a humanitarian crisis. The best way to end genocide and mass atrocities right now is with persistent, high-level diplomacy aimed at creating sustainable peace and laying the groundwork for a more secure future.
